McCann, Bob McFadden, Carol Corbett This fondly remembered mid-sixties cartoon series was Bob Kane's first big project after Batman became an unexpected hit on ABC (Kane created Batman for the comic books in 1939). In addition to Cool McCool segments (a spoof of James Bond), the half-hour was rounded out with Cool's brother Harry McCool and the Komedy Kops in their bumbling capers. What an incredible array of extras you'll find in this DVd set. The films have been beautifully restored to full luster, they look better than the original broadcasts. Included are new filmed introductions for every episode by the remarkable Chuck McCann who voiced most of the characters on Cool McCool - and he looks great! McCann also provides commentary (hosted by Wally Wingert who does a first rate job). Wingert also interviews McCann on film and there are other filmed tributes to this legendary TV performer found here. This was the cartoon with the New York City kid show background. Chuck McCann one of the Big Apple's brightest stars and fellow Cool McCool voice actor Carol Corbett was one of the hostesses of The Patchwork Family, one of the most popular children's programs in that region of the country. Chuck talks extensively about his experiences as an early-TV kid show host and cartoon voice actor on the commentary tracks. The 3-disc collection is smartly configured, it's easy to access the 3 individual cartoons that make up each episode from the main menu. A first class treatment for a Saturday morning classic and it's yours for less that twenty dollars if you order now through Amazon. A true retro treat for all ages! TV on DVD Reviews: |
