The Mary Tyler Moore Show - Season 2 One of the best written shows in sitcom history, The Mary Tyler Moore Show's second season is the best of the best, you'll find some of the series' funniest episodes in this collection. It's been a long time since I've watched this series. I have fond memories, back in the late-1970s, of gathering backstage with the cast after our dinner theater performances, smoking pot and watching reruns of The Mary Tyler Moore Show followed by The Bob Newhart Show. We marveled that actors could be working with material as brilliant as this. Seeing these shows again - even without the pot - is a pure joy. The Mary Tyler Moore Show is one of the few comedies from the 1970s that seems as fresh as ever. It's not hard to see why this program racked up so many Emmy Awards. And the cool 1970's fashions are an added kick. Besides the 24 brilliant episodes there are lots of bonus features - episode commentaries by Ed Asner, Gavin MacLeod, writer Treva Silverman, producer David Davis, and director Jay Sandrich; clips from the Emmy Awards when Ed Asner and Valerie Harper won;fascinating behind-the-scenes footage of the shooting of the fourth season opening title; along with Mad magazine's parody "The Mary Tailor-Made Show" and it's a hoot. Also included are interviews with cast members with loads of behind the scenes stories along with other extra features. These episodes from the 1971-72 season are more homey, less formulaic than the following seasons and they've been restored to a rich luster for this DVD collection. They've never looked or sounded better. This will make a great addition to your DVD library, no doubt. TV on DVD Reviews: |

No longer the new girl in town, Mary has come to think of the newsroom

every family faces. From Mary explaining the facts of life to Phyllis’
daughter to going on a blind date (set up by Lou!) to attending her
disastrous high school reunion, it’s clear why this TV classic
