TV NEWS
A man angry after being rejected as a contestant on The Price Is Right walked into a San Francisco law office and threatened to blow the place up with his fake bomb. No Plinko for you!

WE tv’s original series The Locator broke records as the highest rated premiere ever for the network and as the network’s most watched telecast ever. The Locator finale airs Saturday, October 25 at 9pm/8c and on the heels of the first season success, a second season will go into production set to premiere Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2009. The second season will continue featuring Troy Dunn on his quest to help families find their lost loved ones with a new family each episode. Success stories are popping up via the web community on WEtv.com/thelocator’s “Share Your Story” feature.

Promoting her new memoir, Maureen McCormick is making the rounds telling everyone who'll listen what a reckless coke addict she used to be. Isn't this her second autobiography? I guess not but it sure seems like it. On Friday's Morning Show with Mike & Juliet the former Brady Bunch star admits: “I was 18, 19 and 20 when I had each abortion. It shows how careless I was. It shows what drugs did to me and how far I went. I was not aware of the things going on in my life. Playing Marsha, I always had to be perfect…but I had so much going on underneath. I always felt I had to be perfect for the public. Now I know I don’t - I can just be me.”

(About the first time she tried Cocaine)
“I took one toot and didn’t feel anything and then I took another. Pretty soon, I felt so good and I became totally addicted for five years. It was awful. I would lock myself in my apartment. I’d be up for three nights at a time. They would call me ‘The Hoover’” (because of how much cocaine I would do)." Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!

COMINGS & GOINGS
Another TV great has passed - Neal Hefti, a former big band trumpeter who worked with Count Basie and Woody Herman also was an arranger and composer whose credits include the themes for the film “The Odd Couple” and the campy TV series “Batman.” Here's the LA Times obit.

Just a reminder - you can watch new episodes of South Park after they debut on Comedy Central - go to SouthParkStudios.com.

Maureen McCormick (aka Marcia Brady) is coming clean about her drug use and trading sex for drugs. Well, haven't we all...

Here's a short film I enjoyed very much by Matt Nunn called Plasma:

From the press release for a worthy cause: For the many that have asked (and those that haven't yet), the Controllable Halloween Decorations for Celiac Disease are ONLINE:

Once again, three live webcams and X10 powerline control technology allows web surfers to not only view the action, but also *control* it. Heck, you can even inflate/deflate the giant Frankenstein, Pumpkins, Grim Reapers, Skull, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Homer Simpson - D'OH! ;-) The website continues to be completely free and totally fun, especially for kids. If folks are so inclined, you can make an optional donation directly to the Center for Celiac Research. Over $25,000 has been raised with holiday lights - go figure! So surf on by, tell your friends, blog about it, spread the word, etc.

TV STUFF
TV Shows on DVDWe've gotten hundreds of requests to see this show on DVD and here it comes - The Hilarious House of Frightenstein. From the product description: The brilliant camp classic Canadian TV show of the 70s, featuring the quintessential horror king, Vincent Price. This live action show, which combined variety, humor, top 40 music, and educational segments, were all flavored by the spice of mock horror, at Castle Frightenstein. I never saw the show myself, it sounds like something I would have enjoyed.

26 new, half-hour Pink Panther animated shows will debut on Cartoon Network in the fall of 2009.

"This weekend, the jury in the O.J. Simpson armed robbery case found him guilty on all counts. So be careful parents: if your child experiments with double murder it could lead down the treacherous path to sports memorabilia theft."
- Conan O'Brien

David Bianculli, a critic I like very much from NPR’s “Fresh Air” and TV Worth Watching, has an interview with Bob Schieffer: Having Candidates Scrap Debate Rules Would be "The Dream."

This looks good. From the press release: What’s it like to be an insider at a typical high school? This month, HBO debuts a hilarious, but brutally honest, look at modern high school life. The show follows the journey of three diverse characters - each impeccably played by writer/creator Chris Lilley - over the course of one semester at Summer Heights High.

Shot in a documentary style, the show explores the facets of a typical public high school – including social cliques, bullying, stereotyping, profanity, racism, and homophobia – through the actions of its three main characters: Ja’mie King, a junior exchange student with a massive ego and sense of entitlement; Mr. G, a 30-something senior drama teacher with delusions of grandeur; and Jonah Takalua, a middle-school delinquent on the fast track to nowhere.

You can check out advanced clips from the series here:

After watching that last clip I really don't know what to say... If you enjoy The Office this one looks like a winner; HBO's on a roll again.

OK, this show looks really cool, prolly because I used to manage a punk band and all of this drama is de rigueur with a group of substance abusing nihilists. And it's fun to observe - from a distance. From the flack: The FUSE network has recently debuted their brand new show Fuse Rock Bottom, a brand new music reality show that features different up-and-coming bands each week and the problems they encounter when one member of the band is out of control. Here's the first seven minutes of the latest episode:

What an idiot! Folks, if you ever get a chance to go to LA and make your dream come true, leave your inner Judy Garland at home. Episode #2 of Fuse Rock Bottom (STILL STANDING) airs tonight, Tuesday, October 14 at 11:00pm EST.

TV ON DVD
TV shows on DVDBob Huggins writes: "I couldn’t agree with you more about your recent blog entry regarding TV-on-DVD being a great entertainment value. And some of the releases are down right cheap. I just picked up season 2 of “Barney Miller” at Amazon for $12.50, but the best value for TV-on-DVD that I’ve seen in a long time has to go to the Bill Cosby/Robert Culp series “I Spy.” Amazon currently has each season for just $9.99 so, for just $30 (including free shipping), you can get the entire series... and remember, these are hour long shows!"
