I'VE
DONE THIS! "The other day I was standing to close to the hob when I was cooking. I was wearing cotton trousers and underneath I was going commando. Then suddenly I felt this searing heat - my balls were burning," Ramsay told The Sun. Read more here if you can take it... Saturday,

'N' THAT One of my favorite actresses Miyoshi Umeki, the first Asian to win an Oscar (forSayonara) and later starred in the Broadway musical Flower Drum Song, died of cancer on Aug. 28. Umeki also portrayed housekeeper Mrs. Livingston on the ABC sitcom, The Courtship of Eddie's Father (1969-1972), which starred Bill Bixby and Brandon Cruz. Sam Sanders writes: MISS LOIS APPEARS ON RADIO-97.1 FM Talk's Allman and Crane (morning show) had Miss Lois (Chesterfield, MO) on Friday, August 31. Talk about rockin' people's worlds. The show had all kinds of callers reminiscing about the 12 years Miss Lois spent on Channel 2 doing her show. She talked about how she left the show briefly to have a baby just 6 months into the show and then coming back and answering a kid's question about the baby. She said she has done many things professionally since then. She moved out of town but now lives somewhere in Illinois. Apparently, a friend of a relative of Jamie Allman knows Miss Lois. He even said on the air (being 44 years old) that when he had the opportunity to get Miss Lois as a guest, he about lost his mind. There were so many kids that watched this one person and now he gets to meet her??? Miss Lois (sorry did not know the last name) was very gracious and patient with callers and was thrilled to hear back from everyone after all these years. This will not be the last you hear from her, I guarantee. Friday,

'F' BOMB Richard Belzer has this to say about that: "Jerry Lewis is not Anti-Gay by any stretch of the imagination... I have been with him at all hours in a multitude of situations and he has NEVER exhibited any anti-gay sentiments at all. He has shown herculean strength in raising money and awareness for millions of people, mostly children, with Muscular Dystrophy and 40 other related diseases." Read the rest here. Thursday,

COPS:
20 years... Caught On Tape If you've ever seen the show (and who hasn't?) you already know what to expect, this new special is an adreniline pumped hour of amazing takedowns. Quite simply, you see what happens to people when they run from the police. This best-of special starts out literally with a bang as suspects in a van careen through a red light and t-bone an automobile, followed by runners and jumpers of all stripes: hopped up prostitutes, drunk, disoriented old guys, cross-dressing truckers, intoxicated drivers who plow into fully lit up police cars, clueless drug addicts, naked nut jobs, knife-weilding despondent women, and numbskulls who can't understand simple instructions like 'put your hands in the air.' COPS: 20 years... Caught On Tape is a shocking greatest hits collection of some of the bizarre tasks police are called in to handle - like capturing a giant boa constrictors found in a attic, wrangling an enormous rat, coming to the aid of terrified children, controlling a Mardi Gras riot, and responding to a domestic disturbance turned food fight. You'll witness an amazing officer with a prostetic leg chase down a fleeing junkie (and make the capture), a driverless car running in circles, and a deranged little person who thought he could escape on foot. Now that's entertainment! I love this show because I always find myself yelling at these foolish criminals on the TV and roaring with laughter when resisters are tazered (sometimes repeatedly). In the end the good guys always win and the bad guys sign the consent form to have their idiotic actions played out for everyone to see on national TV. Those families must be proud. "My son is on TV tonight!" Of course, all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Yeah, right - that's why they were running, they were innocent. This riveting hour-long special is a rip-roaring winner, a wild ride from start to finish. COPS: 20 years... Caught On Tape airs Saturday, September 29th at 8:00pm ET. Cops 20th season kicks off with back to back episodes starting Saturday, September 8th at 8:00pm ET. Thursday,

One of the critiques that Prison Break received on it's debut was, once the guys have broken out of prison what do you do next? Keep dropping them back behind bars and start over? The producers stunned TV viewers by making season two as good or better than the exemplary first year even though most of the action took place outside the penitentiary walls. But can they do it again? Season three debuts on FOX on Monday September 17th to answer that question. The stakes are higher than ever for our one-the-run brothers as younger bro Michael finds himself once again behind prison walls with T-Bag, Mahone, and poor Bellick. Former guard Bellick has it especially bad as he finds himself the lowest man on the totem pole, reduced to limping around the yard in his tighty-whiteys for the first 2 episodes (not a pretty sight). This time the guys are confined in a Panamanian hellhole so unrestrained that the guards abandoned it and left the prisoners to run the joint. In order to save Lincoln's wife and son (that kid is nothing but a pain in the ass) Michael has to bust himself and another prisoner out and finds himself, quite literally, in a fight for his life. No doubt this will be the make-or-break year for this outstanding series. There are some fiendish new characters to contend with in this hellatious new environment; season 3 is shaping up to be just as compelling and exciting as the previous two. Prison Break season 3 debuts on FOX Monday night, September 17th at 8:00pm. It's followed at 9:00 by another excellent series, K-Ville. Tuesday,

Part Two:
Part Three:
Ralph and Ed rehearse and then perform a TV commercial with Kramden as the 'Chef of the Future.' Possibly the most hilarious sketch of all time.

FALL SHOW REVIEW You may have read about this show in the news recently, one of the participating chefs is suing the production, insisting that he was set up to fail and made to look foolishly incompetent by the production. Honestly, if you want to look good in public, why would you go on a show like this to begin with? Did the guy not see Hell's Kitchen where Chef Ramsay humiliated everyone in sight? If you don't want to be embarrassed don't go on a reality TV show for heaven's sake! Why any sane person would invite this guy into their insular and disoriented world is beyond me but it displays the level of sheer desperation these restaurateurs must feel. Ramsay brings the hammer down for an extreme makeover of the kitchen, menu and staff alike and it's exciting, nerve-racking, emotional and severely entertaining. On the first episode Chef Ramsay travels to Babylon, Long Island (one of my favorite places) to try and rehabilitate Peter's Italian Restaurant run by a Goodfellows wannabe and his family. Things go poorly from the start, as you would expect; the gobsmacked master chef barely gets through his first sample meal before the entire place descends into chaos. It's astonishing to believe that people could possibly do business in this manner. After much yelling and drama, Ramsay manages to alienate everyone in sight. That's his style. Wait until you see the goombah co-owner and head of house who's ready to thrown down at a moment's notice (and he gets plenty of opportunities to brawl before the hour is over). Between the shouting and shoving matches that break out when the creditors show up to the heartwarming outcome, it's jaw-dropping, eye-popping fun. Sure, It's heavily edited to make everyone look ridiculous and it appears that customers were shipped in by the production to heighten the drama (one of the complaints of the suing chef) but that's expected of the genre. Episode three focuses on another troubled, long-standing Long Island establishment, The Seascape Inn. I almost ate in this crumbling shithole once - boy, am I glad I didn't after seeing the conditions that existed before Chef Ramsay's amazing makeover; as soon as he saw what was going on in the hopelessly arrogant chef's kitchen he immediately closed the place down! (For the record, next time I'm in the area I will definitely stop in to eat.) If you liked Hell's Kitchen, enjoy fine dining or ever worked in a restaurant you will love this new series. Rotting food, filthy conditions, roaches escaping from the fridge - sometimes it's best not to know what you're eating. You may never look at your favorite local eatery in the same way again but you'll enjoy watching these clueless restauranteurs sweat, strain and then ultimately find absolution. This is one damn fine show. Kitchen Nightmares debuts Wednesday September 19th at 9:00pm on FOX. Here's are some teasers from episode 1:

M.I.A. Speaking of shows that were ripped off from earlier programs, the new FOX show New Amsterdam is not only a stinker - it appears to be a total rip off of a book released 5 years ago. Here's the story. You can't tell me that all of those points of similarity are merely a coincidence. I understand, tho it hasn't been officially announced, that we may be seeing The Mike Douglas Show on DVD early next year. I'll be first in line for that one! Thursday,

SHOW REVIEW MyNetworkTV unveils a new game called Temptation based on the 1970's classic Sale of the Century and it's a real winner. Like that earlier that series, 3 contestants answer questions about pop culture and are intermittently offered the chance to spend some of their winnings on 'fabulous prizes.' The twist of this new show is that viewers at home are given an opportunity to buy some of the products they see on the show at a discounted price, kind of like a marriage between the Game Show Network and Home Shopping Network. I found Temptation to be appropriately fast-paced, exciting and loads of fun, I was smiling throughout the entire show. Host Rossi Morreale is very effective; I could easily see him hosting The Price Is Right after Drew Carey grows bored with the routine - as I suspect he will after a few years. If you're a fan of the genre look for Temptation beginning September 5th at 8:00pm on MyNetworkTV. After that debut, the show will be seen in daily syndication starting September 10th. Speaking of which, Drew Carey's debut on TPIR will air Oct. 15, the game show's 36th season opener. Monday,

First up, the original 3 Supremes in a medley of their hits from 1968.
Another hit from the Supremes, 'Reflections,' taken from a TV appearance.
After Diana left the group the Supremes carried on and recorded some of their best tunes during the 1970s including this one, 'Bad Weather,' a song written by Stevie Wonder. It didn't chart but it's a great tune. I asked Mary if she would sing it in her second show and she did - even though she said she hadn't sung it in years. I understand she added it to her repertoire after that point.
Finally a 1980's cover of the 1970's Chi-lites smash hit 'Oooh Child.'

REQUESTS Shawn asks: "I was wondering if you could possibly help me with a big favor. I'm 43 and a native of the Tri-State area of NY-NJ-LI and I also watched WNEW 5's "Creature Features" as it aired in New York Saturday nights. You may remember the show's host "The Creep" played by Lou Steele, as well as the original opening, consisting of a monster face that glowed on and off while the music 'Visitors From Space' played in the background. "Is there ANY chance that you know anyone who has these TV show openings on video (transferred to DVD from Beta) or any chance of getting the show in a classic collectors' series on DVD? Are they even available? "I would ask the same of the old WPIX show "Chiller Theatre" that had the hand with the six fingers. I've been looking for these relentlessly and coming up more than short." Paul asks: "Do you have any plans to add an old 50's TV show called "Silent Service"? It was a show about our submarines during World War Two. If you are looking for this show, I believe WUAB in Cleveland,Ohio had some of these in their archives. At least that was the rumor I had heard about 6 or 7 years ago. It would be in everyone's interest if they could be saved before they rot away." - Someone in an earlier post asked about some gold bars he found with Bozo engraved on them. Ed Golick from detroitkidshow.com solves the mystery. "5,000 Bozo silver bars were minted in 1973. They show up from time to time on eBay. You won't get rich by selling them, but they are a nice keepsake if you are a Bozo fan." Guess they made some gold bars as well? Or maybe the silver tarnished... Thursday,

NEWS Home Improvement and George Lopez are moving to Nick at Nite. The George Lopez Show on Nick?!? Countdown With Keith Olbermann the highly rated cable news program, will be broadcast Sunday before a preseason NBC football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers. A voice of reason on network TV?!? AmericanLife TV Network, the cable network devoted to the Baby Boomer generation, debuts a new Thursday primetime programming line-up on September 6, featuring four sci-fi classics created by Irwin Allen. They'll run in this order - Lost in Space, The Time Tunnel, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Land of the Giants. It's an Irwin Allen orgy every Thursday! And they're showing them in order of quality as well. What a cool channel, on Wednesdays they air I Spy & The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. and on Mondays 77 Sunset Strip. Speaking of Land of the Giants, the new, limited edition, deluxe DVD edition of that series retails for $250.00 but if TVparty sales are any indication it's a big seller. Wednesday,
