HMMMM I have to say, there is nothing more flattering to me than to get an email like this. In the 14 years I've been doing this site I've gotten maybe 5 like it but in all honesty I really appreciate knowing that someone cares enough to turn me off! And if Jim took the time to write it down and send, a hundred others probably agree, right? As I told Jim, I posted the video because I find it so shocking that, as a society, we seem to be sliding into totalitarianism. Removing someone from a public place for such an innocuous sign is something that wouldn't have happened 20 or 30 years ago. Still, I try not to blog personal stuff, like the fabulous time I had last night (getting drunk in front of the TV and crying myself to sleep), but once in a while I see something that points out how much life has changed in the USA that I feel compelled to share. I justify it because we're on the internet and it's net content. By the way, as I told Jim, the way things are now I don't plan to vote for either of the big two. Ooops, there I go again... Jim may be right, I need to stay focused on classic TV. So I will. Until I get all hot about something else. I'll get new meds. Wednesday,

MUSINGS Remember Rock-afire Explosion? They were the 'house band' for Showbiz Pizza back in the 1980s, one of those animatronic devices to entertain kids at their Showbiz Pizza birthday parties. A used car salesman in Alabama bought one of the Rock-afire Explosions and they've made a documentary about it. Here's the trailer:
A big screen version of Friends with the original cast could be in the works. Are any of those guys working these days? Ever wonder who owns the many TV networks? It's a very short list - check it out here. Finally, you can watch the pilot episode of Mad Men here for free to celebrate the start of season 2 on AMC.

SATURDAY
MORNING TV 1977
At 11:00 - Land of the Lost soon to be a major motion picture. I really enjoyed this program and I'm hoping the movie will be good. (No clip). At 11:30 - Little John Big John. Robbie Rist and Herb Edelman star in the story of a teacher who drinks from a fountain of youth and switches back and forth between man and boy.
12:00 - Kids From C.A.P.E.R. "The show was live action and involved a group of California teens who rode around in a remodeled van called the "The Big Bologna" solving crimes, getting into hi-jinks, etc. The costumes looked straight out of John Travolta's closet." - Chris Varney
12:30 - Muggsy. Sarah MacDonnell stars as an unlucky teenager living in Bridgeport, Conn. During her one short season on television, Muggsy's dog is sold to animal researchers, she tracks down a man who robbed her, her dad Nick tries to help a former girlfriend hooked on drugs that becomes involved in a gunrunning scheme, dad and Muggsy get mixed up in a barmaid's marital mess, and then poor Muggsy and friend Clytemnestra witness a hit-and-run accident that kills their friend's mom.

RERUN Each segment was narrated by a different star and they were sponsored by Shell (finally something good from an oil company). Every major star and politician you can think of took part in the series - in this one, Oscar winner Jessica Tandy does the honors.
These spots are pretty rare, I was surprised no examples could be found on You Tube. If I get enough requests I'll load up the only other one I have with Bella Abzug - but I doubt she's as popular as Ms. Tandy. Thanks once again to A. J. McWhorter from Television Archives. Here's an audio capture with Jack Klugman tells a story of the nation's past. Both of these ultra-rare clips are in Real Player format. Thursday,
