THIS LOOKS GOOD I think I'll order this just to get Van Nuys Boulevard. What a bunch of cheesy flicks. Tuesday,

I just wanted to share my short memories of the Gene London show. I lived in south New Jersey back in the 1960s and never missed an episode. I loved his show and remember having a crush on Gene. One time my Brownie troop went to Philadelphia for a field trip to sit in the audience of his show. I can remember that there was a raffle and one kid would get picked to go down and join Gene on stage. I completely remember my girlfriend nudging me that my name had been called. I got to run down and get a hug from Gene. I remember being completely awed by him and shy about being on stage. What great childhood memories! Now there's a Gene London news group and Gene is involved in the project. Check it out! The most entertaining Blog I've run across recently is Deus Ex Malcontent. This
is disturbing: You know that Sharper Image gift card
you got for Christmas? Right now, it's worthless. And other gift cards
in your wallet could lose their value, too. Stars of tomorrow? I think so - Holy Ghost Tent Revival is bubbling up from the Greensboro, NC music scene. Here's their new video which I didn't like at first but it grew on me as I watched it. Then again, my favorite albums I hated when I first heard them.

RICHARD
BAER The series was based upon the comic misadventures of McDoakes, a likeable but hapless everyman who strived for success but learned too late that with fame came a hefty price. Mr. Baer also directed the Green Acres TV show which was produced and created by Mr. Paul Henning for CBS/Filmways TV. His last endeavor was being interviewed for the TCM TV tribute to old movie shorts Selected Short Subjects which was narrated by Chevy Chase; it aired a few years ago. The TCM tribute Selected Short Subjects is available on the Laurel & Hardy / Fra Diavalo / Bonnie Scotland DVD set. Monday,

MORNING SHOWS Did you ever see the Schoolhouse Rock parody, Conspiracy Theory Rock? Chances are you didn't (unless you saw it on this site), NBC yanked it after the first airing on Saturday Night Live back in the 1990s. It's popped up on You Tube.

NEWS NBC took a web series from My Space and placed it on their primetime schedule. How did it work out? On Tuesday, the NBC premiere of "quarterlife" marked the network's worst time-period performance in the 10 p.m. hour in at least 17 years, averaging a 1.3 rating/4 share among adults 18 to 49 and 3.1 million viewers overall despite a strong lead-in from "The Biggest Loser." AROUND
THE WEB Enjoy reading bad case scenarios? That blackout in Florida may not be a fluke - The Power Failure From Hell will make you rethink everything. Another of my favorite TV shows is coming to DVD - Square Pegs, a program that did a wonderful job at capturing the zeitgeist of 1982. Conan O'Brien takes over the Tonight show next summer. But what happens to rating's champ Jay Leno? NBC is in the hot seat! Here's the money quote: And if they did change their minds, they would owe Mr. O’Brien a penalty payment: an estimated $45 million. The John Ritter family's wrongful-death lawsuit against the doctors who treated the actor on Sept. 11, 2003 goes on. Co-star Katey Sagal (Married With Children) testified yesterday. "He was America's darling," she said. "He would have done movie after movie. He was back and he was back in a big way." Can you believe it? My Dad is Better Than Your Dad on NBC is a big hit - coming in at #17 overall on opening night, with even better numbers in the 18-49 demo. Can you believe ABC is considering picking up According to Jim for an eighth season?!? Meanwhile watch Jimmy Glick (Martin Short) interview John Waters, it's good for a few laughs.

SUNDAY
MORNING TV "Saturday morning TV and the afternoon block is full of so many cartoons for kids that having a Sunday block (which was where failed cartoons went to die IIRC) would be superfluous. Simply because the shows aren't the shows that you remember, doesn't mean they are crap; also, most of the show are still written down to kids like they used to be a long time ago. If you want the so-called 'classic shows' on the air so bad, why not pressure all those TV channels that show classic programs to rerun MAKE A WISH or The DOUBLE DECKERS or whatever the hell it was you watched when you were a kid that you think that they don't show anymore (and for the record, the show with Hal Linden is called Animals Animals Animals - I know because I used to watch that crap when I was small too, on the rare Sunday that my parents were too tired to take me to church.) "There's nothing wrong with any of the cartoons for kids that are on the air today, period - and as for learning about animals, they can watch any of those shows on nature that show on PBS (where they can also watch very well-written weekday afternoon shows for kids like Arthur, Fetch With Ruff Ruffman, Maya & Miguel, Sesame Street, Dragon Tales, Cyberchase, Corduroy, etc.)" I actually like some of the new cartoons for kids as well. They are certainly better animated than the Saturday shows of the 1970s. I also think it would be a cool move if Make A Wish could be rerun, I wonder if they even exist anymore. Kevin S. Butler writes: "I've just read Eric Pleasant's response to the problems that the execs who ran ABC TV had back in the 1970s, their inability to create, produce and present kid shows for the right age group. "One sad example was the Sunday morning kid's variety series Kids Are People Too. Originally, when Bob McAllister was hired to do the show in the fall of 1978, he assumed that the network version of Wonderama would be aimed at younger children and that he would have more creative control over than he had with his previous show at Channel 5 in New York. "His hopes were never realized. He was told by the producers and network execs that this series was to be aimed at teens and that he would have do the show their way. "Bob did some interviews with the guests that were poorly edited and the guests were prevented from performing for the kids in the studio. Bob was also forced to screened forgettableSuperfriends cartoons and comedy segments from the Krofft Supershows and phony advice segments with Dear Alex & Annie. "After a few months Bob was forced to leave the show and by the winter of 1979 was replaced as host by Michael Young. Mr. Young tried to do the show for teens his interviews with the guests were only fair and he couldn't really perform in the skits on the shows since he was not an entertainer. "Kids Are People Too moved to the ABC TV studios in Hollywood for a time but moved back to NYC by 1980 when the show's producers saw that Young was not doing well on the show. They replaced him with Randy Hamilton, a talented singer and soap opera star. His interviews were also forgettable and his performing was limited to singing. Mr. Hamilton also didn't seem to connect with the kids as his appeal was more for adult. By 1981, ABC decided to stop producing kid shows for Sunday mornings and aired news shows like This Week With David Brinkley, reruns of old movies and sporting events. "Animals, Animals, Animals was the last educational kid's show that ABC did for Sunday mornings." Sunday,
