HALLOWEEN
YOU TUBING
Remember those great local TV horror hosts of the 1960s & 1970s? One of the most creative was Cleveland's Ghoulardi aka Ernie Anderson who was also the voice of ABC in the 1970s, think of the announcer on all those Love Boat promos, ("on the Loooooove Boat"). Anderson passed away in 1997.
L.A. was blessed in the mid-1960s with a very funny local kid show starring a creature created when jellybeans accidentally fell into a Monster Machine - Shrimpenstein. Gene Moss is seen as Dr. Von Schtick with Jim Thurman providing the voices of the puppets.
Speaking of scary things, watch this TV reporter freak out on a Roller Coaster. Sunday,

STUFF Coupon clipping is up, no surprise, but manufacturers are adding more restrictions. As a single person, what good are 2 for 1 or buy 2 get 1 free? USA has renewed dramas Burn Notice and Psych for the 2008-09 season. Here's an interesting dramatic short film you may enjoy - Oaks Motel by Lucas Butchart:
You Tube will begin streaming entire shows from CBS’ library such as Star Trek and Beverly Hills 90210. Do the words “Nifty Gifties” and “Pulse Check” mean anything to you? If so, head on over to The Office Addictionary. At The Office Addictionary you can add words, compete in a Word-Off and participate in the “There Ought To Be A Word!” Saturday,

REALITY
PROOF YOUR HOME What about TV shows on DVD? Will they weather the economy? For just a bit more than you'd pay to kill a couple of hours at the cinema you could own an entire season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Simpsons, Knight Rider, Wonder Woman, S.W.A.T., Sledge Hammer, Family Affair, or Cheers. Those sets are all around $20.00 or less and they're yours to keep, something like 20 hours of entertainment on each. On the other hand, you can own 'best of' collections of The Twilight Zone, The Commish, I-Spy, and Gene Simmons: Family Jewels for around the price of a Blockbuster rental. TV shows on DVD is the best entertainment value of all. For instance, you can get the entire run of The Dick Van Dyke Show, Get Smart, or Miami Vice for around $100.00, wallow in the past and forget the current mess. At least for a few days. Thursday,

SAD
PASSINGS Well, you're going to have to update that page, because now Mr. Runyon has apparently passed away for real. Here's a link to his obituary in the L.A. Times. Chucko was another friend of this site, a devoted Los Angeles area children's entertainer who positively impacted so many lives in his 10 years on the air, wonderfully creative and a great TV talent. Our condolences to his family. In related news: House Peters Jr., the original Mr. Clean in Procter & Gamble's commercials, died Wednesday. He was 92. Here's the obit. Thursday,
