Episode of Camp Runamuck with Maureen McCormick from 1966
One of my faves when I was 9 years old, Camp Runamuck was a lighthearted sitcom that ran for 26 episodes during the 1965-1966 season on NBC. The network had high hopes for the show, so much so Camp Runamuck kicked off NBC's Friday night lineup that included Hank, Convoy, Mr. Roberts, and Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Camp Runamuck was such a drag on the Friday night schedule only Man From U.N.C.L.E. returned in the fall of 1966. The series was scheduled opposite CBS's The Wild Wild West and ABC's The Flintstones.
Starring Dave Madden, Arch Johnson, Dave Ketchum and Leonard Stone, this episode features guest star Maureen McCormick in 1966, she was just 9 years old. Three years later she would star as Marcia Brady on The Brady Bunch.
The 1960s was a golden age of sitcom theme songs and this show had one of the best. The first episode theme was written by composer and bandleader Frank DeVol and sung by Bobby Darin. Thereafter, the beginning and end theme songs were penned by Howard Greenfield and Jack Keller.
In April 1966, Dell Comics issued a Camp Runamuck comic book. In the mid-1970s, Camp Runamuck aired in the UK on Saturday mornings, ten years after airing in the United States.
