The Bickersons!by Billy Ingram The Bickersons starring Don Ameche and Frances Langford began life on September, 1946 as a skit on various NBC variety programs, then moving to CBS before ending in 1951. It is without a doubt one of the funniest skits of all time - often imitated - but was inherently limited. Unlike The Honeymooners, who bickered back and forth often, there was virtually no love between Blanche and John Bickerson.
Ameche and Langford co-hosted a variety series, The Frances Langford–Don Ameche Show, from 1951–1952 where The Bickersons was a regular feature. The Bickersons got their own short-lived half-hour sitcom in the summer of 1952 with Lew Parker in the John Bickerson role. The chemistry just wasn't there - and how can you set an entire show in the bedroom? Frances Langford and Don Ameche recreated their famous radio skits on The Frances Langford Special airing on NBC, Sunday May 1, 1960.
